About The Artist and what to expect
For this particular series, I have decided to do all the paintings the same size 400x535mm.I am working on 3mm supawood boards. There are a number of reasons for this, firstly the board size suits my painting style, secondly boards are strong and smooth, which allows for detail which I find important. Lastly, I have ready made cartons for this size, which makes packaging easy.
I use Acrylic paint, its great for what I do and very durable.
The Paintings.
I have already stated that I enjoy detail, but let me hasten to add, I want my paintings to look and feel like paintings. Brush marks are clearly visible, paint is applied thick in some areas and thin in others, just as it should be in any genuine art work. Most paintings feature the bird, the background is merely to compliment and highlight it, and I found a lot of people like bird paintings done this way. Others prefer the background to be included, so you will see examples of both.
I specialized in birds because this was the subject matter I started with +- 30 years ago and I am always drawn back to them, not easy to paint, especially when you attempt to portray "attitude". (Birders will know just what I mean.) I was very fortunate to have lived in Nelspruit for many years, a terrific area for birds and birding and close to the Kruger National Park, things don't get much better than that, except they did because I also had a gallery in Halls Farm Stall. Many bird paintings were sold there, I am pleased say.
All paintings are one off originals, if you purchase one, you will notice a number at the back, an indication that the painting has been recorded in my personal register.
Purchase a Painting
Prices are very reasonable. I've taken into account the tough times we face. A painting of a bird with a plain background $636.00. Full background paintings vary. These prices do not include a frame. They do include postage in South Africa. Postage to other countries as per quote

Paintings will be sold on a first come first served basis i.e. payment received.
You can reserve a painting for 48 hours, if it is not paid for during this time, it will be offered to the next person in line.

Conservation is extremely important to me. Reasonable requests for painting donations to raise funds in this regard, will always meet with a positive response, where possible.
