Entirely black and white and smaller than the Giant Kingfisher. This bird is able to hover which it does on a regular basis when fishing. When it spots a fish it plunges into the water to seize it's prey. They return to the same perch time and again.
A friend keen to take photos built a hide at a dam hoping to be able to photograph the bird eating it's catch, unfortunately for him the kingfishers decided that the top of his hide was a great spot to land and have their meal.
Talk about frustrations!!!!!
