No 625 - Bateleur Eagle - Terathopuis ecaudatus
Bateleur is French for tumbler or tight rope walker.  The bird gets its name from the strange way it flies. 
If you are going to fly, wings and a tail (one would think are essential).  The Bateleur has great wings, but an almost complete absence of a tail.  Little wonder that it appears to loose balance in flight, as a birds tails are the steering mechanism.  Why it has no tail, I have no idea, thank goodness I only paint them and had no part in the design.
